Dr. Catherine Chan and Dr. Rhonda Bell are Professors of Human Nutrition at the University of Alberta. Much of their research focuses on strategies for improving nutrition and physical activity in people at risk of developing or already diagnosed with diabetes. At home, they both enjoy cooking and testing new recipes on their families and friends. As well, they appreciate the great outdoors in the prairie provinces and opportunities for hiking, biking and gardening.
“Most diet plans are simply unrealistic and unsustainable, either because they focus on one particular food group or because the recommended food is inconvenient to obtain. One of the main reasons that Catherine Chan and Rhonda Bell’s wonderful “Pure Prairie Eating Plan” is such a revelation, especially for those of us living on the prairie, is that it is built around how we actually eat. It isn’t a gimmick. It isn’t a fad. It is real, science informed, diet advice that is both easy and fun to follow. Best of all, the recipes are terrific!”
